After quite a break from posting on my blog I have begun again.
This morning is a lovely autumn morning just warm enough. The sun shines
through the leaves of the trees and onto the newly mown grass. The new
fence looks a little odd because of its newness and the fill and top dressing
is a little too thick on the ground. It needs a good rake and then we
have to wait for the grass to poke new shoots through. This will take
time. The best time for new growth is spring of course.
All this is a little like my writing journey. I have learned so much in the
last year. But unlike the grass it doesn't need to wait for
spring to start to grow. Growth spurts occur as I have
breakthroughs. This last ten months I have been working on a
novella. Sometimes I have despaired and thought to put it aside and then
with support from my writing group and workshop I have found a new spurt.
It is still a work in progress.
Lately I have learned that authors who want to be published have to be
responsible for much their own publicity through various social media
outlets. Now anyone who has read my blog in the past will know I am a bit
of a technophobe with this stuff. I have a Facebook page but only for
games and with only two friends. I have never tweeted - unless you count
when I was a teenager back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and my friends and
I twittered like birds.
But I have become a Blogger - much to my surprised delight - with the
help of CD (clever daughter), here I should be honest and tell you the it
wasn't just help. CD set the whole thing up and kept my indecision under
control by giving me limited choices. I have been lax in the last months
and haven't kept up with my blogging. That stops now.
Next step - one day when the mood hits me - perhaps I will become a
twitterer (is that even a word? No - I'm told it's tweeter.)
All this takes time - time away from writing. so I am forced to
consider my priorities. And no.1 priority is writing. However I
will post on my blog at least once a fortnight. It may be about writing or an
anecdote or just about something that has caught my attention.
